Recognized during May, Mental Health Awareness Month was created as a way to educate the public about mental illness, raise awareness surrounding research and treatments, reduce the stigma associated with mental illness and celebrate recovery from mental illness.

Theatrical dance is a mixture of theater and dances paired with a graceful essence. The Spring Festival of Dance, sponsored by the Missouri Arts Council, is coming to the Excelsior Springs Performing Arts Center June 9-10.

The Excelsior Standard, May 26, 2023 Glennel Dean Simpson Curtis, known as “Dee Dee,” passed away peacefully on May 12, 2023 – two days shy of her 97th birthday – at home. Born on May 14, 1926, in Novelty to Elmer C.

An Excelsior Springs basketball player is moving on to the collegiate level. Rakai Gantt, who graduated May 12 from Excelsior Springs High School, recently signed a letter of intent to play at McPherson (Kan.) College, an NAIA school affiliated with the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference.
