Community rallies at YMCA golf tournament

The YMCA drew more than 160 players and volunteers to the greens this year, turning a summer golf tournament into a major fundraiser for the Challenger program. With games on every hole, a live auction and a fireworks show capping off the evening, the annual event raised more than $23,000 to help families and athletes with disabilities.

Police, neighbors partner for crime prevention session

Excelsior Springs residents will have the opportunity to learn ways the layout of their homes and neighborhoods can impact crime prevention during an upcoming event at the Community Center. The Neighborhood Engagement Team will host Excelsior Springs Police Department Lieutenant Ryan Dowdy for an evening presentation on Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED).

Everett Duncan McDaniel of Excelsior Springs passed away peacefully Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2025. Graveside services were scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, at Crown Hill Cemetery in Excelsior Springs. Duncan was born Jan. 28, 1937, to Homer and Pearl (Houston) McDaniel in Excelsior Springs.
