Rawie’s expectations ‘pretty high’ for softballers

One luxury is six returning starters from a team that went 15-7 overall and 6-4 in the Missouri River Valley Conference West Division – good enough for second place.

Ganzer leads mix of maturity, youth onto soccer pitch

Faubion looks to fill void left by graduation

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Varsity football coach Mark Faubion has what might seem like a daunting task to some fans: replacing 22 seniors. Making that task even harder was that Faubion could not get a full spring and summer to work with his players as he usually does.

Deadline dawns for Clay Charter

RICHMOND – Rather than adhere strictly to state rules for county governance, Clay County could operate with greater independence under a “charter,” something voters agreed in June to consider. The proposed charter could be available for public viewing as early as next week.
COMMISSIONER Jerry Nolte says the charter could reach the commission Monday.

SBA warns email phishing scams target businesses

RICHMOND – The Small Business Administration is sending a cyber-warning alert to loan applicants seeking federal aid in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The email phishing campaigns involve malicious actors who impersonate the SBA and the Office of Disaster Assistance to collect personally identifiable information for fraudulent purposes.
WHAT MAKES THE PEOPLE who engage in email phishing and other types of electronic scamming so good at their craft is that they do not care who they hurt and they do the best they can to make the lies that they tell believable, including copying the official logos of private and government offices. ESHS begins live streaming athletic events in September

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – If you cannot be at Tiger Stadium, the Excelsior Springs High School gymnasium, or the softball and baseball fields this year, you can still watch the Tigers play. In cooperation with the National Federation of High School Sports, Activities Director Joe Greim has linked those facilities to have capabilities to live stream all events that take place.

Royals seek to escape American League Central Division cellar

KANSAS CITY – At just over the onethird mark of the coronavirus-shortened Major League Baseball season, the Kansas City Royals’ fortunes are like those of their past few seasons. At press time, the Royals were 10-15 and in last place in the American League Central Division following an interleague doubleheader with Cincinnati Wednesday at Kauffman Stadium.
