ESYWC advances seven to state tourney

Seven Excelsior Springs Youth Wrestling Club grapplers are headed to the Missouri USA state tournament, slated for March 24-26 at Hy-Vee Arena in Kansas City. Mac Gear, Logan Bates, Braxxton Vosika, Karli Grass, Jrayton Salmon, Lilly Smith and Kennedy Grass comprise the group.

With the April 4 election quickly approaching, Clay County Public Health Board candidates answered questions about issues and philosophies affecting Clay County Public Health. Voters will be faced with choosing two of the three candidates — John Barth, Kathy Ellermeier and Lancer Gates — to fill the open four-year terms.

Haslett heads back to court

Due to possible technical and procedural issues with an impaneled grand jury, the case of Timothy Haslett, accused of rape and eight other offenses, is headed back to the Clay County Grand Jury at 9 a.m. Wednesday, March 22.

ES softballer signs with MCC-Maple Woods

Another Excelsior Springs softballer is taking her game beyond high school.

Senior Daelyn Williams has signed to continue her athletic career and education at Metropolitan Community College-Maple Woods in Kansas City.

Other schools Williams considered included North Central Missouri College in Trenton. She chose MCCMaple Woods because she could live at home and have a short commute, she said.
