Excelsior Springs has a new head varsity football coach. Per school board approval, as recommended by activities director Eric Marshall, Jake Danneman was recently named to succeed Mark Faubion.

Two young Excelsior Springs wrestlers brought back medals from their trip last week to Springfield. Representing the Excelsior Springs Youth Wrestling Club, Celvin Holsey and Zane Pyzer finished third and fifth, respectively, at the Missouri USA Wrestling state folkstyle tournament.

On Sunday, Excelsior Springs varsity basketball coach Ian Burch honored his Tigers for their hard work this season. That night in the high school commons, Burch handed out awards during the team’s end-of-season banquet.

Alyssa Betts will soon head north. The Excelsior Springs senior recently signed her letter of intent to study and wrestle at Carthage College, an NCAA Division III program in Kenosha, Wis., with an undergraduate enrollment of 2,616 students.
