With only 12.19% of registered voters choosing to cast ballots April 8, unofficial General Municipal Election results have been released by Clay County Board of Elections Commissioners, with all precincts reporting. Of the 186,347 registered voters in Clay County, only 22,712 chose to vote in the recent election.

After first joining the city of Excelsior Springs as a court administrator 14 years ago, Taran Svoboda is still finding new ways to serve the community she calls home. Svoboda, now the assistant director of administration for Excelsior Springs Parks, Recreation and Community Center, began her journey in 2011 after spending nine years with the Clay County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

Kolin Kincaid has helped make Excelsior Springs a district and Class 2 state power in high school boys soccer in recent seasons. Soon, Kincaid hopes to help Missouri Valley College remain a national men’s soccer power.

The Excelsior Springs School District has officially decided to extend the school year.
