GOLF — Biermann chooses NCMC

Landon Biermann won’t be done playing team golf after he graduates in May from Excelsior Springs High School. Biermann, a two-time boys state qualifier, has signed to play golf for and study at North Central Missouri College, a Trenton-based junior college.

Youth club qualifies 20-plus for state

Some local wrestlers will test themselves this weekend against the state’s elite youth grapplers. Representing the Excelsior Springs Youth Wrestling Club (ESYWC), the youngsters will compete at the Missouri USA State Championship, slated to begin Friday for the girls and Saturday for the boys.

Excelsior Springs varsity girls basketball coach JD Biermann and his Tigers might be playing for a district title this weekend. At press time, the girls were scheduled to face Kansas City Central Thursday night in the Class 4 District 14 Tournament semifinals at Excelsior Springs, with the victor advancing to the championship game, set for 5 p.m.

Cats take another step under Kinder

to PRO High heat, drop kicks, random observations and points that amuse are all part of the wide, wide world of sports at the community and national levels. The Greater Kansas City area needs more affordable mass transportation options, especially in its smaller towns and counties.
