Sophomores Josie Casler and Kinley Rogers came through with winning throws when Excelsior Springs hosted the Mineral Water Classic. Casler was the girls javelin champion at the April 19 track and field competition, throwing 35.55 meters.

Jacob Schmidt was only a few strokes shy of par when he and his Excelsior Springs varsity boys golf teammates played in the Oak Park Invitational. The senior shot a 79 (+7) for his 18-hole, par-72 round at the April 8 tournament, held at the Paradise Pointe Golf Complex in Smithville.

Excelsior Springs coach Richie Marsh and his Tigers have their first dual win in varsity boys tennis this season. The win came Monday, when Excelsior Springs swept Richmond at Maurice Roberts Park in Richmond.

Excelsior Springs’ throwers displayed their skills in two meets last week. First, they competed in the Kearney Throwers Meet April 8.

Last week, Excelsior Springs gave up eight goals in one game in varsity girls soccer – and then scored eight goals in one game. FALLING TO THE FALCONS The Tigers yielded eight goals April 2 in their 8-3 road loss to Van Horn, an Independence-based school.

Excelsior Springs varsity baseball coach Aaron Holst found some bright spots in his club’s 4-2 Northland Tournamentopening loss to Winnetonka Tuesday. One of them was starting pitcher Klayton Glaspy.

On April 5, Excelsior Springs’ track and field athletes took advantage of some favorable weather. That day, the Tigers competed at the Kearney Classic Invitational.
