Excelsior Springs nearly swept the varsity portion of the Greater Kansas City Suburban Conference-Blue Division boys golf tournament. A Tiger took the individual title at the May 2 competition at Excelsior Springs Golf Course, as Landon Biermann shot his way to victory with an 85.

Marcum tapped for MO Sports HOF

In June, the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame will induct another representative of Excelsior Springs High School. Shaun Marcum, a 2000 Excelsior Springs graduate, will be part of this year’s class.

’Cats sport new jerseys in season finale

CONCORDIA – Orrick softball fans got to see the Bearcats display their 2024 jerseys in their last game of 2023. The Bearcats wore the black jerseys with yellow letters and numbers on May 5, when they fell to Kingsville 17-1 in four innings in the Class 1 District 8 Tournament at the Concordia Ballpark Complex.

SHUTOUTS More often than not, opponents aren’t scoring against Excelsior Springs in varsity baseball. The Tigers had won three of five entering Wednesday’s regular-season finale at Belton, with every victory being by a shutout.

Schmidt leads Tigers on the links

Jacob Schmidt was the top Tiger for the Excelsior Springs varsity boys golf team at two tournaments last week. The junior was the club’s top finisher at a tournament hosted by Oak Park on April 25 at Paradise Pointe Golf Club in Smithville, then at the Richmond Invitational on April 28 at Shirkey Golf Club.

Tigers fall in 2OT, then rout Ruskin

For the second time in three games, the Tigers found themselves in a thriller in varsity girls soccer. On April 25, Excelsior Springs and visiting Oak Park went to overtime, with the Oakies winning 3-2 in double overtime and snapping Excelsior Springs’ three-game winning streak.

Boys netters extend dual streak to three, then fall

Excelsior Springs’ longest winning streak this season in varsity boys tennis duals ended last week. Following an April 20 road win over Winnetonka, the Tigers picked up victories against Odessa April 24 and Fort Osage April 26, both at Excelsior Springs.
