The Tigers racked up the top-eight finishes when they competed April 6 at the Kearney Classic Invitational. The Excelsior Springs boys finished with 11 top-eight finishes in tallying 54.5 points – sixth among 10 schools.

Banquet caps boys wrestling season

On April 2, Excelsior Springs boys wrestling coach Cody Beck recognized the hard work his Tigers had put in this season. That afternoon at the high school, the team held its end-of-season banquet.

ES boys golfers take third at Cameron

The Excelsior Springs varsity boys golf team nearly brought home a second-place finish from last week’s Cameron Tournament. Led by an 82 from junior Jacob Schmidt, the Tigers shot a combined 469 at the April 5 competition, held at the Cameron Veterans Memorial Golf Course.

ES girls get goals but go 1-1 for week

Last week, the Tigers scored more goals in two games of varsity girls soccer than they had in their first four games combined. They had only one victory, however, to show for all that scoring.

Boys netters take two of three duals

After two weeks of varsity boys tennis, Excelsior Springs has more dual wins than losses. The local netters were 3-2 entering Monday’s home dual with Fort Osage of Independence – one of three duals slated for this week, along with Wednesday’s Excelsior Springs Tournament.

Bonuchi gets HOF induction nod again

An Excelsior Springs coaching legend has been inducted into another hall of fame. Vic Bonuchi, a longtime football, wrestling and baseball coach for the Tigers, was recently selected for induction into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame.

Nedblake signs with William Jewell College

Kelsey Coleman will have a fellow Tigerette joining her when she leaves Excelsior Springs High School for William Jewell College. As The Standard reported March 31, Coleman recently signed a letter of intent to dance and study at the Liberty-based NCAA Division II school.

ES splits doubleheader with Willard

Colson Moore had the right stuff when he pitched in relief Tuesday night for Excelsior Springs against visiting Willard. Excelsior Springs was leading 12-10 in the top of the seventh inning when Excelsior Springs coach Aaron Holst called on the senior southpaw to close the second game of a varsity baseball doubleheader between two schools nicknamed the Tigers.
