When the Tigers stepped outside the Greater Kansas City Suburban Conference-Blue Division last week in varsity boys basketball, they won. When they played inside their division, they didn’t.

It’s time for the Excelsior Springs High School boys wrestling program to focus on the postseason. The Tigers have concluded their regular-season schedule.

The Tigers closed the dual portion of their girls wrestling season with a thriller. Driven by open victories, Excelsior Springs edged Raytown South 28-27 Feb. 1 at Ray South. The Tigers received four forfeit wins. The Cardinals had only one.

Excelsior Springs had to settle for fourth place in the varsity boys basketball portion of last week’s Richmond Winter Classic. The local hoopsters went 1-2 for the tournament, falling 71-43 Jan.
