Body MEMBERS of the 17-and-under team of Amigos FC, an area-based club soccer program, display their Challenger Cup medals after going 3-1 and winning their division in the April tournament in Kansas.

Body A submitted photo of the Excelsior Springs baseball team was recently published in error. We regret the error and apologize to Coach Aaron Holst and the team. We congratulate Coach Holst and the Excelsior Springs Tigers baseball team on a very successful season.

Body EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The Tigers felt the need to dogpile on one another May 19 next to the pitcher’s mound of their home baseball stadium. The reason was, they had just won the Class 4 District 15 title.

Body WARRENSBURG – Junior Braxton Moffett and sophomores Mason Wartner and Kolt Willis will represent Excelsior Springs this weekend at Jefferson City High School in Class 4 state track and field competition.

Body ORRICK – A major connection to Orrick’s 2020 Class 1 state quarterfinal run, and back-to-back district titles in 2019 and 2020 in boys basketball is gone. Coach Matt Brownsberger announced in April he was leaving Orrick to teach and coach in Warsaw.

Body NEW BLOOMFIELD – An era ended last week for Excelsior Springs boys golf. Senior Ethan Edwards finished his high school career May 16-17 at Meadow Lake Acres Country Club in the Class 4 state tournament – his second straight appearance in a state tournament.

Body JEFFERSON CITY – Orrick sophomores Jonathon Harris and Jaxon Miller “did their school proud” last week at the Class 1 state track and field meet, Bearcats coach Kirk Thacker stated.

Body KEARNEY – Excelsior Springs will be represented in 12 events in Class 4 Sectional 4 track and field action Saturday at Warrensburg. The Tigers secured those spots with top-four finishes May 14 at Class 4 District 8 competition at Kearney.

Body EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The hometown varsity baseballers broke even for the regular season in varsity baseball. And then, they topped .500 in the postseason.

Body CHILLICOTHE – Another Excelsior Springs varsity boys tennis season is over. The season ended May 10 with a 5-0 road loss to Chillicothe in the Class 1 District 15 Tournament.
