Coach leaves Orrick, returns to roots

Body ORRICK – A major connection to Orrick’s 2020 Class 1 state quarterfinal run, and back-to-back district titles in 2019 and 2020 in boys basketball is gone. Coach Matt Brownsberger announced in April he was leaving Orrick to teach and coach in Warsaw.

Edwards finishes ESHS golfing career at state

Body NEW BLOOMFIELD – An era ended last week for Excelsior Springs boys golf. Senior Ethan Edwards finished his high school career May 16-17 at Meadow Lake Acres Country Club in the Class 4 state tournament – his second straight appearance in a state tournament.

OHS produces two medalists

Body JEFFERSON CITY – Orrick sophomores Jonathon Harris and Jaxon Miller “did their school proud” last week at the Class 1 state track and field meet, Bearcats coach Kirk Thacker stated.

Tigers qualify 12 for sectionals

Body KEARNEY – Excelsior Springs will be represented in 12 events in Class 4 Sectional 4 track and field action Saturday at Warrensburg. The Tigers secured those spots with top-four finishes May 14 at Class 4 District 8 competition at Kearney.

Netters stung by Hornets in finale

Body CHILLICOTHE – Another Excelsior Springs varsity boys tennis season is over. The season ended May 10 with a 5-0 road loss to Chillicothe in the Class 1 District 15 Tournament.
