ESACC instructor enters temporary retirement

After 22 years of service, Excelsior Springs Area Career Center (ESACC) is saying goodbye to long-time instructor John Potter as he retires from his current position. “I have been blessed to have many opportunities and to be involved with many things in the fire service, which I can use to help students learn,” he said.

Schmidt, Biermann finish season at state

Jacob Schmidt and Landon Biermann would probably agree that conditions were hardly ideal when they represented Excelsior Springs at the Class 3 state boys golf tournament. Like their fellow golfers, the two Tigers had to fight through rainy downpours and wind at the twoday tournament, held recently at Meadow Lake Acres Country Club in New Bloomfield.

Structure fire investigation underway

An Excelsior Estates structural fire is under investigation for “suspicious circumstances,” according to Lawson Fire Chief Gene Nolker. A structure fire near 16353 Bob Drive in Excelsior Estates was reported to Lawson Fire Department (LFD) from Ray County Dispatch around 11:58 p.m.

The Excelsior Springs Police Department reported the following arrests handled recently by the department. WEDNESDAY, APRIL 26 At 5:15 p.m., Leslie Dieball, 38, was arrested for pedestrians walking along roadways.

Biermann, Schmidt qualify for state

Excelsior Springs golf coach David Stalder got to see two of his Tigers qualify for state last week. On May 8, Landon Biermann and Jacob Schmidt advanced to the Class 3 state tournament by being among the top 14 individuals not on the two qualifying teams at the Class 3 District 4 Tournament at Shirkey Golf Course in Richmond.
