Body EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Jake Smith received a rare honor upon graduating May 13 from Excelsior Springs High School. Second grade was when Smith learned he had held perfect attendance since kindergarten.

Two join city’s Parks, Recreation Board

Body EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The Parks and Recreation Board has two new members. On May 16 at the Hall of Waters, the City Council approved Mayor Sharon Powell’s appointments of Sherri Branson-Hurt and retired Excelsior Springs High School coach Terri Irons to the board.

CAP attracts families to play cornhole

Body EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Community at Play, or CAP, hosted a “Cornhole Family Fun Day” on May 21. “The population of individuals with developmental disabilities was growing in Ray County, but the community connectedness and awareness was not,” Suzan Breen said.
