LIBERTY – November elections will bring competition for seats in Ray and Clay counties, but the August primaries produced little in-party competition – no races in Ray County and three races affecting eastern Clay County.

LIBERTY – Statewide elections produced no surprises, with big-name candidates – Republican Mike Parson and Democrat Nicole Galloway – easily winning their respective primaries for governor Tuesday.

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – A new first day of school for students won the Excelsior Springs Board of Education’s approval at Monday’s special meeting. The target date for reopening is Sept.

BENTONVILLE, Arkansas – Walmart will close all community stores and Sam’s Clubs on Thanksgiving Day this year, rather than offer discounts. The company reportedly wants employees to spend the holiday with their families vs.

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The community Presbyterian church, Barbee Memorial, welcomes Pastor Adel Thalos as the transitional pastor. Thalos will guide the congregation for the next 12 to 18 months.

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – A COVID-19 outbreak is being addressed in Excelsior Springs, a different outbreak shut down sports camps in Lawson and the number of Ray County cases jumped by more than 50% in a week.
