Following a thorough investigation into a recent Lawson shooting incident the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s (MSHP) Division of Drug and Crime Control has officially announced the results of their findings.

Excelsior Springs has been honored with the prestigious Communities of Excellence recognition, which highlights its remarkable achievements in promoting a high quality of life for its residents. Communities of Excellence 2026 announced 10 communities across the nation, including Excelsior Springs, have been awarded this coveted recognition.

Local volunteers are celebrating the successful collection of shoeboxes filled with gifts which will bring joy to children around the world. Excelsior Springs residents, along with thousands of volunteers, have joined Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan’s Purse, by packing shoeboxes with toys, school supplies and personal care items.

The grace period for ticketing those guilty of distracted driving will come to an end on Jan. 1.
