Orrick Christian Church offers support to veterans

ORRICK – To celebrate Independence Day and to express gratitude to veterans, representatives from the Orrick Christian Church dropped by the Veterans Community Project Outreach Center in Kansas City to deliver more than 150 items and more than $1,600 in donations.

Cooley Lake history inspires contemporary art show

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The landscape of a shallow oxbow lake about 8 miles south of Excelsior Springs has inspired the work of area artists and photographers in recent years. “They may have been unaware of its significance in the earliest days of Clay County.
THIS PAINTING, reminiscent of French impressionist Claude Monet’s work with water lilies, but also suggesting photographic realism, is an inspired example of Cooley Lake-inspired art.

Cornerstone Elementary draws praise during tour

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – When Steve Houck began serving on the Board of Education in 2009, the need surfaced for building a new elementary school, he recalled. In 2021, Houck is seeing the 12-year-old vision come to fruition.
