Boys netters take two of three duals
After two weeks of varsity boys tennis, Excelsior Springs has more dual wins than losses.
The local netters were 3-2 entering Monday’s home dual with Fort Osage of Independence – one of three duals slated for this week, along with Wednesday’s Excelsior Springs Tournament. A 2-1 week last week helped put them above .500, with Excelsior Springs trouncing Carrollton 8-1 April 3 at Carrollton and Harrisonville 8-1 April 4 at Excelsior Springs before falling 8-1 April 6 to visiting Warrensburg.
The No. 1 doubles team of seniors Carter Pitts and Colby Mueller hammered out a 9-7 victory to start the Carrollton dual. Senior Lee Mueller and sophomore Austin Collins claimed an 8-3 win in No. 2 doubles. Seniors Matthew Rebello and Ethan Sams
completed Excelsior Springs’ sweep of the doubles matches by scratching out a 9-8 win.
