Residents of Excelsior Springs are invited to the Household Hazardous Waste Collection event Saturday Sept. 9 from 8 a.m.

The Good Samaritan Center’s (GSC) mission is dedicated to preventing homelessness and hunger by providing for basic needs and teaching life skills through their personalized case management programs.

The Excelsior Springs Police Department reported the following arrests handled recently by the department. Saturday, August 12 At 12:21 a.m., Leslie Dieball, 38, was arrested for failure to appear.

Updates on the Early Childhood Center’s preschool program, along with the program aiding grandparents caring for grandchildren, were recently shared. Chelsea Lane, family advocate and first steps therapist, began working at the Early Childhood Center six years ago.

Marvin Bates IV, music director at the Excelsior Springs First United Methodist Church, is collaborating with musicians from multiple backgrounds in the community to host a performance of J.H. Maunder’s work, “Olivet to Calvary,” Sept. 17 at 4 p.m.

Dedicated to helping students build meaningful, lifelong skills and obtain fulfilling jobs, Job Corps in Excelsior Springs strives for student success. A vocational training program for 16- to 24-yearolds, Job Corps began in 1964 under President Lyndon B.

Safety and compliance in all construction and building-related activities is held to high standards in Excelsior Springs, including mold prevention and control. The city recently adopted the International Code Council’s (ICC) building codes, and to keep its residents informed, has made educational material available.

The Calvary Christian Union Church in Excelsior Springs partners with the American Red Cross foundation to host community blood drives every eight to nine weeks to help those in need. “We have hosted a blood drive every chance we could,” said Calvary Church member Becky Johnston.
