When Excelsior Springs coach Richie Marsh and his Tigers got their first dual wins of the varsity boys tennis season, they made sure they weren’t nail-biters. The Tigers got their first win April 7 with a 9-0 pasting of Carrollton on the road.

Excelsior Springs nearly swept last week’s Cameron Invitational. Negotiating the rolling hills of Veterans Memorial Golf Course, the Tigers took the team title at the April 9 varsity boys tournament, shooting a 332.

Excelsior Springs juniors Kinley Rogers and Josie Casler fended off all challengers in a combined three events at last week’s Kearney Classic Invitational. Rogers won two events in the varsity girls portion of the April 11 track and field meet – the discus and shot put.

The Baker University Wildcats will soon add an Excelsior Springs Tiger to their football roster. Senior Justin Wright recently signed his letter of intent to play for Baker, a private, Baldwin City, Kan.-based NAIA school.
