The Excelsior Springs High School class of 2023 is sending another student athlete off to college. Dalton Layton, who graduated in May, has signed a national letter of intent to continue his education and compete in track and field at Rockhurst University in Kansas City.

ES girls soccer program caps season with banquet

In late May, Excelsior Springs put a formal finishing touch on its varsity girls soccer season with an end-of-season banquet at the high school. The event came less than two weeks after Excelsior Springs’ final game – an 8-0 loss to St.

Deputies respond to call of shots fired

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report from an unidentified caller claiming he shot multiple people who had broken into his home. With the help of Clay County Dispatch, deputies were able to answer the call, which came in at 7:30 p.m.

ES Planning and Zoning, Council deny short-term rental request

A public hearing was held by the Ex celsior Springs Planning and Zoning Commission to discuss the authorization of two local homes being rented as Air BnBs. Bridge Wealth Fund One LLC, the owner of both properties, requested that short-term rentals be allowed at 2011 Brookside Circle and 2081 Rockridge Parkway to be utilized as Air BnBs.

Tigers kick off summer workouts

Like many high school and middle school coaches around the country, the coaches at Excelsior Springs High School are using the summer vacation months to prepare their respective teams for the 2023-24 school year.

NTRC Horses heal, promote growth

Equine therapy utilizes a connection between people and horses to increase physical and emotional healing. The Northland Therapeutic Riding Center (NTRC), located in Holt, MO, is a non-profit organization helping children ages 4 and over with special needs.

ESCC Pool project moves closer to completion

PROGRESS CONTINUES towards completion of the outdoor pool project at the Excelsior Springs Community Center, with no opening date determined at this time. The latest round of updates include: chemicals being added by hand to the pool, final wiring on equipment, putting spray pad fixtures in place, setting storage building steel, placing black dirt around the pool for landscaping, and installing exhaust fan in the mechanical room. In addition, Royal Construction, SFS Architecture and Water Technology, completed a walk-through of the facility.
