Broadcast students seek journalism insight

Election board launches website

The Clay County Board of Election Commissioners has a new website. “We are happy to offer a more streamlined, efficient and user-friendly website, so our voters and volunteers will have easier, more accurate access to all the information they need to be ready to vote or volunteer,” stated Darla Wierzbicki, board chairman, in a recent press release.

Marcum, Collins, Shipman earn medals at state tournament

Cooper Collins, Ryne Marcum and Wyett Shipman each came back with something from their recent trip to Columbia: a state wrestling medal. Representing Excelsior Springs, Marcum and Collins both placed fourth, and Shipman took fifth at the Class 2 boys state high school tournament, held Feb.

CHARLES W. SHARP JR. (CHUCK)

Charles W. Sharp Jr. (Chuck) was born Nov. 17, 1956, in Kansas City to Raymond and Rosalie Wells. Chuck peacefully passed away Feb. 14, 2024, at age 67 at Liberty Hospital.  

Chuck is survived by his wife, Phyllis Sharp; two daughters, Michele Crawford and Amy Rice; and two sons, Andrew Sharp and Charlie Sharp. In addition, he leaves behind a sister, Dixie Manroe; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.  

A visitation is scheduled for 4 p.m. Friday, March 8, at Zion Church, located at 1800 U.S. Highway 69 in Excelsior Springs.
