Girls hoopsters hold banquet to cap season

DUSTIN DANNER Sports Reporter Excelsior Springs varsity girls basketball coach JD Biermann and his Tigers have formally capped their season. They did so April 1 with a team banquet, held in the high school commons area.

Schmidt and Biermann take third at scramble tourney

Jacob Schmidt and Landon Biermann negotiated the rolling hills of Shiloh Springs Golf Club well enough to contend for a title when Excelsior Springs played there last week in varsity competition. Paired for the Platte County Invitational Scramble, Schmidt and Biermann shot a 65 (-7) for the 18-hole, par-72 competition to place third in the April 1 tournament.

Excelsior Springs ran into a seasoned opponent in varsity boys tennis on April 4, when the Tigers hosted perennial Class 1 power Lafayette County of Higginsville. It was the Huskers’ sixth dual this season.

Through adaptability, Reno celebrates 30 years

From protecting the community to helping staff, the City of Excelsior Springs has been blessed with an employee for 30 years. Clint Reno’s journey with the City of Excelsior Springs began at the Excelsior Springs Police Department (ESPD), where he rose through the ranks to become the police chief.

Last week, Excelsior Springs gave up eight goals in one game in varsity girls soccer – and then scored eight goals in one game. FALLING TO THE FALCONS The Tigers yielded eight goals April 2 in their 8-3 road loss to Van Horn, an Independence-based school.
