The Excelsior Springs Police Department reported the following arrests handled recently by the department. Friday, August 25 At 6:59 p.m., Jasmine Smith, 22, was arrested for driving while revoked.

Work begins on Hwy 10 Bridge

SOPHIA BALES Staff Writer Residents commuting to and from Excelsior Springs have noticed the detour as the Missouri Hwy 10 Bridge is being worked on. Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) Kansas City District Area Engineer Benjamin McCabe confirmed that the bridge work is “on schedule” and the anticipated contract completion is the end of November.

The Excelsior Springs West Side Committee recently hosted a get-together to bring property and business owners up to date on the Community Improvement District’s (CID) one-cent sales tax that goes into effect Oct. 1.

Organizations work to meet student needs

Synergy Services was on hand to discuss its trauma programs for Excelsior Springs students at the monthly Substance Abuse Free Environment (SAFE) coalition. Synergy initiatives for local youth and families help heal trauma, build resilience and strengthen communities through school-based integrated services (SBIS).

Board agrees to allocate funding to ESFD

The Excelsior Springs Fire Department will now be able to fund emergency preparedness operations thanks to an annual funding allowance from the Excelsior Springs Capital Improvement Board. The board also agreed to replenish the city’s building maintenance fund.
