Woods Memorial Christian Church, a name that has been part of Excelsior Springs history for 100-plus years, closed its doors earlier this year, but its legacy will continue. Church members Joyce McKown and her son Darren donated $125,000 to the Excelsior Springs Educational Foundation on Tuesday to help the children of the community for years to come.
Three new teachers have joined the Excelsior Springs High School for the 2022-23 school year. Katherine Jacobsen, Lennon Puls and Stephen Houck are the faculty members.
Laura Mize of the Excelsior Springs Community Development Department presented a resolution on Aug. 15 to the City Council regarding a partnership among the city, Rebuilding Together KC Inc. and Northland Neighborhoods Inc. to provide a minor home repair program for Excelsior Springs residents.
