Richmond News and Excelsior Springs Standard Publisher Brian Rice has announced his retirement from the news industry after 32 years. Rice dedicated his career to The Excelsior Springs Standard, beginning in 1990 as a graphic artist.

Excelsior officer shooting leaves perpetrator dead

An Excelsior Springs Police Department officer-involved shooting occurred on Oct. 1 near the intersection of Kearney and Crown Hill roads. The shooting left the officer with non-life-threatening injuries and the suspect, 65-year-old Carl J. Carrel, dead.

T-Mobile grant will support ES youth health

Swope Health has received $44,000 from T-Mobile to fund a new project in the Early Childhood Center (ECC) in Excelsior Springs. The grant will go toward creating a new Swope Health KidsCARE clinic inside the ECC to create a space for children in the school and young children in the community to receive optical, medical and dental health.
