Last week, as an unusual darkness settled over the sky, millions of TikTok users experienced a startling phenomenon. The app suddenly went dark on screens, displaying a striking message that indicated the app had been banned and was no longer accessible. The sudden notification alarmed many users, sparking confusion and concerns regarding the future of the platform. Questions flooded social media as users speculated about potential shutdowns or significant changes. This wave of anxiety was palpable as countless individuals wondered how it would impact their daily interactions and creative expressions on TikTok.

One local business in our town has done just that, and their decision deserves both our respect and our applause.

Dear Editor, If the Excelsior Springs School Board gets its way, your property taxes will increase significantly again. As reported on December 10, 2024, the Excelsior Springs School Board “discussed a proposal to raise the district’s operating tax levy ceiling by $0.70, bringing it to $5.3089 per $100 of assessed valuation,” and “the resolution to place the question on the ballot was unanimously approved by board members present.”
