The Excelsior Springs varsity volleyball program is under new leadership in one way – and under familiar leadership in other ways. The Tigers’ new leader is head coach Cindy Price, who succeeds Kathryn Partridge.

Excelsior Springs coach David Stalder is working primarily with newcomers as he leads the varsity girls golf program again this fall. Addi Mathews is the lone returner.

Jake Danneman, Excelsior Springs’ new varsity football coach, and his staff are looking to take the Tigers in an upward direction. Danneman takes over a program that has posted back-to-back sub-.500 seasons.

Excelsior Springs cross country coach Steve Houck will have some experienced runners again this varsity season. On the girls side, the program returns two-year letterwinner Katie Houck – one of three girls juniors.

The Excelsior Springs varsity girls tennis team is on a quest, according to coach Richie Marsh. “The girls have set a goal to … get back to the district final and claim the championship once again after falling short last year,” Marsh said.

On September 14, the rich charm and captivating culture of Ireland will come alive in Excelsior Springs as the city hosts its first-ever Irish Festival. Shamrock Hills Vineyard and Winery, along with Shamrock Ranch, will be bustling with the vibrant celebration of all things Irish.

Warrants were issued for two area residents for non-appearance in court. Nickols A warrant has been issued for a Leavenworth woman who allegedly committed a crime in Excelsior Springs.
