ES Housing Authority receives grant funds

The Excelsior Springs Housing Authority (ESHA) was awarded $250,000 through the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Emergency Safety and Security Grant (ESSG). ESSG, under the Consolidated Appropriations Act enacted December 29, 2022, has set aside $10 million in funding for emergency capital needs for safety and security measures.

Trial date set for felony assault, weapons charges

A jury trial date has been set for an Excelsior Springs resident facing felony charges of first-degree assault or attempt and armed criminal action Ronald D. Lana Jr., 45, appeared with public defender Kevin Garrison before Seventh Judicial Circuit Judge Shane T. Alexander on Sept. 28, for a hearing to set a trial date. Lana was not in the custody of Clay County Detention Center, as a bond of $50,000, 10% cash or surety, was posted April 12, by Bratten Bail Bonds.
