EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The Excelsior Springs Football Association has notched another West Central Youth Football League title. The ESFA’s fifth-grade group capped its WCYFL title run recently with a 25-0 win over Harrisonville.

COLUMBIA – Last week at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course, Excelsior Springs junior Tyler Rumore did something for the first time in his high school cross country career: He competed in a Class 4 state championship race.

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – It did not take long for winter sports practices to come to a halt at Excelsior Springs High School because of student-athletes testing positive for COVID-19. The girls basketball team was the first group the virus hit.

OAK GROVE – Excelsior Springs’ losing streak in varsity boys soccer continued in district play. But the Tigers’ season did not.

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Another varsity softball season is in the books. The Tigers finished 7-12 overall and 2-4 in Missouri River Valley Conference West Division play.

Poor Gregg Williams. That thought crossed my mind before my beloved Kansas City Chiefs faced the winless New York Jets, for whom Williams serves as defensive coordinator.

KEARNEY – The Tigers face Kearney on the road Oct. 30.

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Tyler Rumore has achieved the goal many Missouri high school cross country runners strive to attain: a trip to state competition. The Excelsior Springs junior secured his spot in the Class 4 state boys race, scheduled for 11 a.m.

KEARNEY – Another Excelsior Springs volleyball season is over. The Tigers’ season ended last week after a first-round win and a semifinal loss in Class 4 District 16 Tournament action in Kearney.

LENEXA, Kansas – The Excelsior Springs Knuckleheadz did not let themselves get outsmarted when they played Oct. 17 and 18 in tournament competition at the 3& 2 East Complex in Johnson County.
