EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Multiple Tigers received postseason football awards. Juniors Ryan Gluhm and Tyson Solberg led the way as third-team all-state picks in Class 4, as named in December by the Missouri Football Coaches Association.

GLADSTONE – One of Excelsior Springs’ club bowling teams was nearly perfect when the Tigers opened their season in a tournament Dec. 19 at Gladstone Bowl.

KANSAS CITY – Sparked by two individual titles, the Tigers rang out 2021 with a runner-up finish in the team standings of the Center Girls Western Missouri Tournament Dec. 22 at Center High School.

CLINTON – The opening round of the girls portion of the Missouri River Valley Conference Tournament was a tale of two halves for the Tigers. The Tigers scored the first bucket in their 47-25 Dec.

KANSAS CITY – Win No. 2 of the season eluded the Excelsior Springs varsity boys when they played in the Missouri River Valley Conference Tournament.

HIGGINSVILLE – For the second straight season, the Excelsior Springs varsity girls basketball team took fifth at the Husker Classic. And for the second straight season, the Tigers edged a familiar foe to win the fifth-place game: Richmond.

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – On Dec. 10, the high school gym was packed, as 19 schools competed in the Excelsior Springs Girls Tournament.

HIGGINSVILLE – Coming off a 59-54 win over Cameron Dec. 7 at Lafayette County of Higginsville in the Husker Classic, the Tigers were looking to find a way to put two wins together in varsity boys basketball.

KANSAS CITY – A day of grappling Dec. 4 at the Park Hill Duals ended with the Excelsior Springs boys wrestling team going 2-3 and finishing third.

PLEASANT HILL – The Tigers produced one champion, one runner-up, one third-place finisher and one fourthplace finisher in their first girls wrestling tournament this season. Junior Vada Burton pinned her way to the 135-pound title at the Steve Leslie Invitational Tournament, held Dec.
