HIGGINSVILLE – For the second straight season, the Excelsior Springs varsity girls basketball team took fifth at the Husker Classic. And for the second straight season, the Tigers edged a familiar foe to win the fifth-place game: Richmond.

Annie Pearl Barbee, 82, Lawson, MO died Saturday Dec. 11, 2021. 

Annie was born to Adrath Ronald Baker and Eula Johnson Baker. 

Annie worked in the medical field, with her last employment with Dr T.R. Baldwin. 

Annie was married first to Fred Williams, then was married to Max Barbee. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Douglas Williams September, 2021.

Donald W. (Duck) Anderson made his journey to be with the Lord on December 9, 2021 at the home of his daughter surrounded by his loved ones. A visitation for Donald will be held on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 from 1:00-2:00PM at Hidden Valley Funeral Home of Excelsior Springs. Services will be December 15, 2021 beginning at 2:00PM with a graveside service to follow at Elmira Cemetery. Don was born in Ludlow, Missouri on May 26, 1936 to Charles and Francis Anderson.

Mid-Continent Public Library begins loaning out Chromebooks

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Made possible by a grant administered by the Missouri State Library, Mid-Continent Public Library offers Chromebook laptops for customers to check out and take home. Chromebook Kits can be checked out for up to two weeks with two renewal periods, if there are no “holds” from other customers waiting to check them out.
