JEFFERSON CITY – Each year, an estimated 5 million older adults are abused, neglected, bullied or exploited, Department of Health and Senior Services information states. Launched in 2006 by the International Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse and the World Health Organization at the United Nations, World Elder Abuse Awareness Day is meant to serve as a means to unite communities around the world and raise awareness about elder abuse.

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The team slots for the Gregg Williams Tiger Golf Classic are getting filled for the morning round. As of Tuesday afternoon, 22 foursomes had signed up for the morning session of the tournament, slated for July 9 at Excelsior Springs Golf Course, Gregg Williams Foundation Inc.

JEFFERSON CITY – After the new Clay County commissioners dropped lawsuits former Commissioners Gene Owen and Luann Ridgeway had filed to fight a state audit, Auditor Nicole Galloway’s office provided an audit update.

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – “As we all know, the COVID pandemic affected the seniors the worst, followed by the homeless population,” Good Samaritan Center Emergency Assistance Coordinator Jennifer Chappel stated.
