Richey sponsors legislation to create “Emilyn’s Law”

Press release – Missouri State Representative has again filed legislation to ensure employees of the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) are mandated reporters. Known as “Emilyn’s Law,” the bill comes in response to a news story that revealed MSHSAA employees were not required to report allegations of sexual abuse to law enforcement.

Area students named to Missouri State University’s fall 2022 dean’s list

Several local students were recently named to the 2022 fall dean’s list at Missouri State University. To be named to the dean’s list, the student must have completed a minimum of 12 credit hours of graded coursework for the fall semester and earn at least a 3.50 grade point average (on a 4.00 scale).
Council approves crop lease bid around wells, treatment plants

The leasing of city land for farming, it appears, is not immune from the effects of inflation. On Tuesday night at the Hall of Waters, the Excelsior Springs City Council approved leasing land around its water and sewer plants, and city wells to Libertybased Raasch Brothers LLC at $276 per acre for five years.
