Commission addresses homeowner’s requests

The Historic Preservation Commission recently assembled to discuss homeowner requests regarding updates to their historic properties in Excelsior Springs. Local homeowner Brandon Martinez submitted a request to rebuild an additional room on his home at 525 Benton Avenue.

Republican Doug Richey from Excelsior Springs has announced his bid for the 21st District seat on the Missouri State Senate. The district is currently represented by Senator Denny Hoskins, who does not intend to seek reelection.

Tax abatement granted for historic property

The Excelsior Springs City Council held a public hearing regarding a property located at 208 Spring St., which was recently renovated and qualifies for 353tax abatement. The Missouri chapter 353 tax abatement is an incentive allowed by Missouri law encouraging the redevelopment of blighted property or areas by reducing property taxes for up to 25 years.

The Excelsior Springs Police Department reported the following arrests handled recently by the department. Wednesday, June 28 At 6:10 p.m., Danielle Smith, 38, was arrested for identity theft or attempt.
